Information direkt von der russischen Botschaft in Deutschland:

⚡️ November 21 at the IAEA Board of Governors reviewed draft resolution concerning the application of safeguards in Iran.

It was initiated by Britain, Germany, France and the USA, which have been diligently working on the world stage for a long time and, in particular, at the IAEA on escalation of tensions around the Iranian nuclear program. Behind these efforts one can clearly see their pursuit by any means present Tehran as the main threat in the Middle East and thus distract international attention from the tragedy in Gaza.

❗️ It is noteworthy that the group of co-authors included exactly those countries who deliberately went to gross violations UNSCR 2231, refused to fulfill their obligations on the JCPOA and sabotaged multilateral efforts to restore the nuclear deal.

Counting, apparently, that the international community will forget about the root causes of the deep stagnation of these most important agreements, the European countries participating in the JCPOA, acting in close conjunction with Washington, are diligently “smearing black paint” on Tehran and shift all responsibility onto him.

It is clear that if the JCPOA continued to operate today, it would a priori would dispel any doubts regarding the Iranian nuclear program. However, this is precisely what does not seem to suit those in the West who benefits politically from the tension around Iran and exaggerates imaginary threats allegedly emanating from its activities in the field of peaceful nuclear energy.

☝️ Russia considers the mentioned resolution a step in the wrong direction. It is obvious that the goals of its initiators are completely different and have nothing to do with nuclear non-proliferation. Despite the fact that the Western group of countries violating UN Security Council resolution 2231 succeeded push through their “product”, in reality they voted for it only 19 out of 35 countriesincluded in the SU. The rest – and these are the countries of the World Majority – either abstained or voted against.

Russia resolutely rejected this resolution, considering it completely inappropriate and not conducive to constructive interaction between the Iranian side and the Agency. In essence, the idea of the Anglo-Saxons and the Euro-Two is aimed at undermining it. This is supported by the fact that the text of the document, prepared in advance by them, began to be distributed among the member countries of the Management System even before the publication of the relevant Agency reports and just at the moment when IAEA Director General R. Grossi was in Tehran, met with the leadership of Iran and visited with his team of inspectors of nuclear facilities.

Apparently, the prospect of strengthening cooperation between Tehran and the Agency does not please the Westerners and does not fit into their plans. They are ready to do anything to justify their policy of „maximum pressure“ regarding Iran, which began with the withdrawal of the Americans from the “nuclear deal” in 2018. In fact this destructive course has long discredited itself and only leads to increasing contradictions and confrontation.

The Russian side hopes that this is also understood by the IAEA leadership, which should not be allowed to push itself around countries operating from for opportunistic reasons and to please their Iranophobic sentiments.

It is significant that, while in Iran, IAEA Director General R. Grossi spoke in favor of continuation of constructive interaction with Tehran. Moscow expects that he will continue to move in this direction, without taking into account biased resolutions that have no legal force.
